Academic, urbanist and designer, holds MA in Interior Architecture from Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (1997) and PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from Cracow University of Technology (CUT) (2006). An alumnus of the European School of Classical Architecture (ESSCA) (2016).
He was a scholarship holder of Polish Minister of Culture (2003) and Ministry of Science (2004); in 2004-05 visiting tutor at the Masters in Urban Design at Cardiff University; long-time lecturer and trainer at the Sendzimir Foundation’s Summer Academy ‘Challenges of Sustainable Development in Poland’. From 2007 assistant professor and director of the International Center for Education at CUT; initiator and director of post-graduate studies in Sustainable Urban Management (from 2016). Since 2012 chairman of INTBAU Poland, since 2017 secretary of INTBAU College of Chapters. He specializes in urban sustainability and resilience based on natural and cultural heritage, and participatory methods in planning and urban design. Author of over fifty publications. Translator, incl. “The Image of the City” by K. Lynch; author of the Polish version of the PPS textbook “How to Turn a Place Around”.
Member of the Sendzimir Foundation Council and an expert in the ‘Climate Mitigation in the Heritage Buildings’ project. He is a scientific editor of the guideline publication about the sustainable renovation of historic buildings which will be published in Autumn 2022.
