Common actions for biodiversity

We begin the realisation of a new project that supports 15 Initiatives for Nature initiated by the inhabitants of the cities. Till the end of 2017 we will help engaged citizens to create places that will support biodiversity, water retention and nature protection.

The project Common actions for biodiversity will be realised in 11 local communities (all around Poland - in 6 voivodships).

The general goal of the project is nature protection through civic engagement.

The practical initiatives are devided into 3 thematic groups:

I. RAINWATER MANAGEMENT (raingardens and small retention)

There will be 6 raingardens created in Katowice, Lublin and Piła, as well as two retention ponds in Piła and Zapolice.

II. GREENING AND UNSEALING THE CITY

Among the actions that we plan to realise with the inhabitans are planting trees in Marki, creating gardens in Katowice, constructing a vertical garden in Zielona Gora and a local park in Opole.

III. CREATING HABITAT FOR POLLINATING INSECTS

We plan to revitalise areas in four villages (Letownia, Rudno, Tenczynek, Paprotnia) to create there meadows full of local plant species that the pollinators need. We also plan to create two biodiverse gardens to support the insects in Siemianowice Slaskie and Krakow.
